Guide for Tușnad Spa
Surnamed “Transylvania’s Pearl”, TuÈ™nad is one of the most beautiful spas in Romania, with balneal activity since mid 19th century.
Tușnad spa is situated in the southern part of Ciuc Basin, 650 m high, between Harghita and Bodoc Mountains, in a splendid gorge of Olt River. This location gives Tușnad a beautiful natural position, strongly ozonified air, rich in aerosols and negative ions, that fulfill a tonic mountainous bioclimate, favorable to psychical reconfortation. The average temperature is around 8 deg. C (17,5 in July and -7 in January), with cold winters and capricious summers.
Although the small resort in the country, has a high degree of attraction for tourists, mainly for the healing properties of the mineral springs ( carbonated, salty-containing sodium chloride, containing calcium, containing magnesium, ferrous-chalybeate, containing sodium bicarbonate, hypotonic with an overall mineralization of 0.68 - 17.86 g / liter) and mofettes (gas emanations dispersed in air). In total there can be found 44 springs, which are used for internal and external cure. As internal cure are recommended for: cardio-vascular system, chronical gastrithis (hipoacidic/normoacidic), and chronical hepatho-colecistites, digestive system. As external cure are recommended for: metabolic system, rheumatic, cardio-vascular system, neurasthenia’s, diseases of the locomotor system.
The health-resort has complete medical facilities, including massage, baths, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, electrotherapy, with a total capacity of 800 patients/day.
For the spa treatment, the structure of the complex is as follows: reception area;specialised medical offices recuperation, physical medicine and spa medicine;offices for specific therapy (kinetic therapy, kinetic hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, massage therapy, hydro thermotherapy); relaxing area; emergency room; office for functional prospects.

S. Lake Ana (950 m) located 25 km from the resort, the lake of volcanic origin, unique in Central and Eastern Europe;
Tinovul Mohos (1056 m) located near Lake St. Ana, said natural reservation, shelters rare species of plants;
Miercurea Ciuc (30 km.): Miko Fortress, the Ethnographic Museum
Franciscan Baroque church of Sumuleu (35 km) which owns one of the biggest organ installations in Transylvania;
Red Lake (115 km.) Biggest natural dam in Romania; Defile Olt River, Rock Soimilor (848 m), Siculeni Szekler monument;

Information obtained as a result of our visit to the resort Baile Tusnad, I found the Manager said that the number of patients who are treated at the treatment is about four million per year and about 350-400 series.
The treatment works at the beginning of April and on 20 December.
